Tomb of Tana Hakadosh Rabbi Nachum Ish Gamzu
Rabbi Nachum Ish Gamzu was one of the first Tannaim (sages of the Mishnah era) and teacher of Rabbi Akiva
Question:
Hello rabbis, I saw advertisers that there is a segulah on the 23rd day of Shevat to light a candle in honor of the soul of Rabbi Yaakov Chaim Yisrael Alfeya, and to read “Petah Eliyahu”, and to make one request, and he is assured that the prayer would be accepted. You know the source of this segulah?

Hello and best regards. Unfortunately, recently there has been a custom of spreading segulot without any responsibly, in a distorted way, because everyone who distributes adds and subtracts.
The source of the segulah is the will of the kabbalistic gaon of the rabbis of Aram Tzobah Rabbi Yaakov Chaim Yisrael (son of Sarah) Alfia (father of the well-known Rabbi Yitzchak Alfeya), who wrote: “Anyone who has studied with me whether in Israel or abroad, will learn ‘patach Eliyahu’ on the day of my ‘yartzait’ for the sake of my soul throughout his life, and expects the salvation of Hashem, which I will also pray before the Supreme God”.
We learn from his words a few things:
and will pray and recommend well to everyone.
He did not write to light a candle. Of course, it is certainly recommended to light a candle, as every day a person dies, but this is not part of the request of the tzaddik zt”l.
PLEASE NOTE*
Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him. The answers are under the responsibility of the rabbi who responded, and not under the responsibility of the website and/or the Head of the Institution.
