: A 12-year-old boy must bless the blessing of food only from the law of education to educate the boy for the mitzvot he will be commanded when he is 13 years old, and it is possible to shorten that he blesses from the beginning of the food blessing (bircat hamazon) until the end of a fourth blessing, that is, until the words “vrevach vhazhala vchal tov”. And skip all the “harachmon” – until the end of the food blessing. And if this too difficult for him, he will say: “Brach Rahmana Alhana Malka Dahalma, Mare Dehai Pita, Brach Rahmana Dazan Lekola.” (and precisely in this Aramaic version). And they will endeavor to accustom him and educate him to bless his food as well as the rest of the last blessings, that is, “ol hamichyah, and borah nafshot”, and at the very least they will be educated to bless the barach of ol hamichyah that many posskim hold on that it is from the Torah, and there is no difference between when he eats a lesson of grain or fruit. And what you asked if whether he is allowed to eat even after he has blessed, he may eat again, just bless the food before he eats again.   Sources

Question:

Should a 12-year-old bless the food after eating, or is there some abbreviated text to say, and if so what version he is saying.

Answer:

A 12-year-old boy must bless the blessing of food only from the law of education to educate the boy for the mitzvot he will be commanded when he is 13 years old, and it is possible to shorten that he blesses from the beginning of the food blessing (bircat hamazon) until the end of a fourth blessing, that is, until the words “vrevach vhazhala vchal tov”.

Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him. The answers are under the responsibility of the rabbi who responded, and not under the responsibility of the website and/or the Head of the Institution.
