Question:
Is a man allowed to be treated by a woman dentist, blood tests by a “nurse”, and is a woman allowed to be examined by a man “family doctor”, and is she allowed to go to a man gynecologist for pregnancy monitoring, contraceptive devices, “ultrasound”?
Answer:
A man should not be treated by a woman doctor and a woman should not be treated by a man doctor, but under the following conditions it should be allowed:
1. When he is really sick and not just something is bothering him.
2. In a situation that there is no doctor who treats this problem, or that he does not currently here, and it is an urgent medicine.
3.When careful of prohibitions of ‘Ichud’ (uniqueness). And if there is a woman doctor but the man doctor is more expert and it is urgent, it should be allowed.
