The reason for this is that there is currently no mitzvah of hakhel from the Torah, because there is no yovel or shmitah in our days.  Secondly, since we are unable to fulfill the commandments of the crowd in the place of the temple because we are unclean of the dead, in addition, because we are unclean of the dead, we are not obligated by the commandments of a’liyah laregel’, and those who are not obligated by the commandments of a’liyah laregel’ are not obligated even by the commandments of hakhel, thirdly, since there is currently no king in Israel, there is no obligation of the commandments of the audience from the Torah. Question:

Do I have to go to Jerusalem this year to be makayem the mitzvah of hakhel?

Answer:

Peace and Blessings

Nowadays, we do not get to fulfill the commandments of hakhel as commanded by the Torah, and we do not fulfill anything but a remembrance of the commandments of the mitzvahTherefore, it is not obligatory for every person to go to Jerusalem to fulfill this mitzvah, because the memory of the mitzvah is not obligatory for individuals.

May we soon be blessed to be revealed and see His kingdom over us

And we will make a pilgrimage to the Temple together to show before our King Our Redeemer

Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him. The answers are under the responsibility of the rabbi who responded, and not under the responsibility of the website and/or the Head of the Institution.
