Question

my kids want a puppy do I’m allowed to have it?

Thank you

Answer

Hello & Greetings

A dog that bites and harms others, or even a dog that may bark at people he does not know and cause fear and panic, should not be kept at home.

However, a small pet dog that does not bite and harms and does not cause panic to people, there is no halachic problem keeping it at home.

Although according to halacha this is permitted, it is a measure of Hasidism not to raise an impure animal in the home. Therefore, the more you can find another game that will replace children, the better it is to convince them to find interest in another game rather than a dog.

Best wishes

Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him.
