Question

My son is 21 years old and he became religious a few years ago. Recently he met a Jewish girl at his work and he is in love with her but unfortunately he found out , I mean when he asked her if she ever slept with someone, and her answer was yes and she was wit guy for 4 years.

Answer

Hello & Greetings

I understand the unpleasant feeling from this discovery, but it is important to know that according to halacha there is no impediment to marrying a woman who is not a virgin and has had conjugal relations with another person.

Therefore, as much as the couple likes each other and wants to establish a home of partnership and love, and repent of what has been done, there is no reason to refrain from marrying such a woman.

It is true that there is a good reason to marry a virgin woman who is more loyal to her first husband and makes a covenant with him, but this is no reason to exclude a woman who has lived with another person, as far as all the data is appropriateGood deeds in a woman is much more important, because they are the most important basis for the stability of a shared home over days and years.

Only a priest (cohen) is forbidden to marry a woman who had conjugal relations with a gentile, since a non-Jew disqualifies the woman from the priesthood

And only from a high priest (cohen gadol) does the Torah require that one marry only a virgin woman who has not previously been married to anyone

May God guide you with good counsel
