Question

It says in the Torah to wipe out all of cannanites/enslave them. Does it apply today? How do you explain in in the context of keeping the 613 mitzvot if it is part of the mitzvot?

Answer

The Torah commanded us when we entered the land of Israel to kill seven nations so that they would not sin us with idolatry and their evil deeds, and one of them is the Canaanite nation, and this mitzvah is practiced for generations to come, although today we do not know who the Canaanite nation is, because they intervened with the other nations, and we do not know where its root and place are.

Best regards

Rabbi Meir Pinchasi

Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him. The answers are under the responsibility of the rabbi who responded, and not under the responsibility of the website and/or the Head of the Institution.
