: The most appropriate is to check everything on erev pesach night with the help of the rest of his household.   And if he does not have large household members who can help him, it seems that he can trust the opinions that say it is useful to check the house a few nights before the ‘chag’, if he can lock and keep these places excellent guarding and not use them until after the checking of ‘erev pesach’, but still you should leave a little to check on erev pesach night. And if he does not have large household members and cannot check at the nights before erev pasach, you can count on the “sale of the chametz”, that means to sell the chametz in the sale of chametz on the 13th day before the obligation of cheking chametz occurred. and even though the some sages wrote that the customary sale is not so good because you are not selling something that is not specific, it seems that for the purpose of checking the chametz, which is a mitzva ‘derabanon’, one can rely on the ‘maykilim’ with the custom, And if he finds chametz on Passover, he will close it in a closet or put up a partition. and still you should leave a little chametz that will not sell and will check that chametz and you will be makayim the mitzva of bedekat chametz. Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him. The answers are under the responsibility of the rabbi who responded, and not under the responsibility of the website and/or the Head of the Institution.
