Question

Can I date a non jew if they might kill themselves if I don’t date them?

Thank you

Answer

Hello & Greetings

First hope you are well,

You must really examine whether there is a real and certain fear of killing, God forbid, if you do not go with a non-Jew, it is very difficult for me to say that in our time there is such a situation of real fear of killing if you do not go out with a non-Jew.

Indeed, to your question, it is important to know that even if you are threatened with actual killing if you do not date a non-Jew in conjugal relations, in the opinion of many poskim there is no permit to allow so, since in their opinion sleeping with a non-Jew is prohibition that the Torah said you would kill yourself and do not do this sin, so there is no place to lighten on this matter.

But if the situation really is that you are being killed because of your refusal to go out with a non-Jew, it is appropriate to be very strict in preserving your life, and not to refuse it outright. In practice, however, you must refrain in any way from promoting the relationship, and there is plenty of ways to cause a non-Jew not to want you, you just have to understand that the prohibition is very serious.

It should be added that all of the above is for the purpose of a prohibition in a privet connection, but insofar as you are required to marry a non-Jew in public, there is a desecration of God, and this is even more serious, and about such a case the Torah tells that Pinchas killed Zimri, who went and slept with the non-Jew in public in front of the people of Israel in the desert.

May you be blessed to endure this difficult trial and save your spiritual life as well as yourself.
