Question

Is it possible to doubt a marriage in which the ring purchased for the woman was paid by the father of the bride and not by the groom?

Thank you.

Your question is important

Indeed, from the essence of the law, it is necessary to make sure that the kiddushin ring must bekond to the the groom and must buy the ring, or the person who bought the ring will give the ring to the groom as a gift, so that he can ‘mekadish’ the woman in it.

Although even in the case when the father of the bride bought the ring and gave it to his son-in-law in order for him to be ‘mekadish’ the woman in it, the kiddushin should not be doubted. Whereas, without a doubt, the father intended to give the ring to his son-in-law as a gift so that he would be ‘mekadish’ his bride with this ring, and the father did not intend to leave the nature in his own possession.

Moreover, even if the father intended to lend the ring to his son-in-law in order for him to sanctify his daughter-in-law in it, and then return it to him, kiddushin should not be questioned. For since the father knew that the ring was needed for the groom in order to sanctify his bride in it, we say that he must have intended to give it to him in a way that would benefit him to ‘mekadish’ his bride in it.

Thus, although it is necessary to first make sure that the ring belonges to the ‘mekadish’. Even in the case when we did not clarify this first, there is no doubt about kiddushin, and we say that the ‘mekadish’ must have received the ring in a way that is useful in order to him be ‘mekadish’ the bride in it.

Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him.
