Question

It’s hard for me to try to keep Nidda. In the first week I manage to keep myself, but in the second week I begin to accept the need to be sensitive. I will never have a relationship because that is the main principle. Sometimes I touch my wife and she says no. Is there any relief for the rabbi to allow touching if we do not have relations? My wife will be okay with that, but only if the rabbi says it’s okay. If I can’t touch her, then sometimes it leads me to masturbate because this urge is very strong in me. That’s a very long time for me and believe me I understand the beauty of keeping Nidda. Thank you for your time

Answer

Hello and regards,

First of all you need to know that you are a perfectly normal man!

Most people who maintain a religious lifestyle face your difficulties, I don’t think there is anyone who loves his wife and it is easy for him to see his wife every day and sleep next to her, and not to touch her even with a small finger.

But what shall I do, and the Torah absolutely forbade any affectionate touching of his wife, which is in general a prohibition of: “And a woman in the religion of impurity shall not come near,” and according to the opinion of many poskim, including the opinion of the bait Yosef, that it is forbidden to be killed and not to pass.

And since there is no permit for anything, your wife is very right not to let you get close to her.

What’s more, touching reaches the body of an act.

And believe me, the more you look forward to it, the stronger the physical and mental connection between you will be.

Some practical tips to make it easier for you,

  1. Business yourself a lot these days, and better away from home as much as possible.

  2. Your wife should not adorn and beautify these days and explain to her that by doing so she helps you overcome your lust.

  3. Be more protective of your eyes when looking at a different women and when it comes to them.

  4. Study Torah more these days and you will see that the Torah gives calm in your heart, tested and experienced.

Best of luck:

Rabbi Meir Pinchasi
