Question

Your Question: Hi, I have decided to read the Bible and have no religious affiliation. I am stuck at Genesis 1:26 when God says Let us make man in our image. I feel there is a translation issue I’m missing. I do not feel this relates to the Trinity. Can you help clarify.

Answer

There are several interpretations in the explanation of this sentence: Rashi Genesis chapter 1 verse 26: says: We will become a man – the humility of the Holy One, blessed be He, we have learned from this, since man is in the image of angels and will envy him, therefore we will reign over them, and when he judges the kings he will reign in his entourage. etc. And although it was not helped in its creation and there is room for species to decline, the Scripture does not refrain from teaching through land and humility that the great shall reign and take permission from the small.

And in Zohar says: G-d wanted to create a person who possesses all the powers of all animals, and so asked them from each of them to contribute his essence and content, as it were, and thus create the person who is the crown of creation.

Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him. The answers are under the responsibility of the rabbi who responded, and not under the responsibility of the website and/or the Head of the Institution.
