Question

I knew a man who was a Gentile (like me) and a Christian that converted to Judaism. He had no Jewish blood. Under your law, could this man marry a Jewish woman? Further, if a couple who was already married converted, would their marriage be blessed under your law?

Hello & Greetings

According to the Torah, a non-Jew who wishes to convert can do so on condition that he accepts all the commandments of Judaism, immerses in a mikveh, and performs circumcision before an Orthodox court.

Insofar as a person applied to convert and met these criteria, after the conversion he is like any other Jew, and it is permissible to marry a Jewish woman.

Likewise, if a couple who were already married before a conversion, if they complied with all the aforementioned conversion rules and accepted the yoke of the commandments, their conversion is valid. Indeed, in order to marry each other according to Judaism, a sanctification ceremony and remarriage will have to be performed.

In addition, if the woman is young than has the ability of becoming pregnant, they must wait three months from the conversion before performing a chuppah and kiddushin.

Welcome
