Question:
I heard there’s a ‘segulah’ for a girl who’s having trouble finding a decent shiduch, should go buy a big tallit for the groom. Is it true?
Answer:
Yes, there is a segulah as you wrote, and the tallit should already be with the ‘tzitzyot’ tied, and that the girl will place the tallit in her closet. And it is appropriate that you pray to Hashem when buying the tallit, and for example she will say as this wording: “The Lord of the world, by your grace I trusted and bought a properly tallit to give to the groom that you will order me in your mercy, please god do not shame and do with me free grace to order me a decent shiduch quickly, Amen Sala”. etc..

It does not make sense as a Tallis is not cheap, and there are so many different sizes, as well as many different minhagim. How could she possibly know which one to buy?
Buy a medium size, and the groom will wear it under the veil and also for a day or two during the prayer, then buy another one in the exact size. I know it’s not cheap, but there are virtues that cost money, it’s not a must, it’s a virtue for those who want it.
