Question:
If you have a snack that requires a Shehakol bracha along with a drink that requires a Shehakol bracha does one bracha cover both items or is one required to make a separate bracha for each item?
Answer:
The shulchan aruch wrote (Mark 206; 5) one that blessed on fruits that are before him, and then brought him more of the same fruits or other fruits that has the same bracha as the first blessing, should not bless. And the Magen avraham (סק”ו) wrote that all of this is when both are fruits, but if they brought him fish and brought him a beer that is a completely different thing, even though their blessings are equal still one bracha is not included wuth the other, unless it was in his mind to eat the other one as well, or that he was in front of him on the table. And so the kaf hachaim wrote (ס”ק ל”ח).
And if you are a guest and a diner on the landlord’s table, one blessing is said for the two species, and as the Shulchan aruch (סימן קעט סעיף ה).
