: First, whisky is not a wine, so there is no fear of ‘yayin nesech’, even if the gentile touches it. Secondly, even with regard to open bottles of wine, in the sale of the chametz to the gentile there is no problem of wine, because the gentile is not sold the wine but only the chametz, as it appears in the sales notes. So don’t be afraid to sell the open bottles of whiskey at the sale of chametz to a gentile. With a kosher and happy Passover greeting Sources and Scores

Question:

Shalom HaRav

If I sell the chametz can I include open bottles of whiskey in the sale, or because they are open and will be in the possession of the gentile I will no longer be able to use them.

Answer:

First, whisky is not a wine, so there is no fear of ‘yayin nesech’, even if the gentile touches it.

Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him. The answers are under the responsibility of the rabbi who responded, and not under the responsibility of the website and/or the Head of the Institution.
