on: I am a teen who has previously had my ears pierced. I do not currently have my ears pierced, but I would like to get them re-pierced. I would consider my family Jewish in religion, and I am not sure what to do. I feel a conviction not to get them pierced, but I’m not sure what Scripture truly states about the matter. Exodus 21 states that a slave is permitted to pierce his ear if he wishes to stay with his master. I know Scripture also states Baal worshippers had earrings too, which is clearly pagan. Although I want my ears pierced, I’m not sure what direction to move in. What do you think I should do?
: You are right in your feelings, pierced ears is something that is not appropriate according to Judaism, in the view of Judaism only women pierce their ears for the purpose of wearing earrings to be beautifying them. But men are not allowed to wear women’s jewelry and are not allowed to wear earrings. In the matter of piercing the ear without wearing an earring, the Torah commands the slaves who are infamous for the purpose of a sign of dishonor, as the midrash annotates, an ear that heard on Mount Sinai they are my slaves and are not slaves to slaves, and yet he still prefers to be under a master, this ear will be rattled. But anyone who is not a slave does not have to make a hole in his ear, since according to Judaism, the person must keep his body intact, since the body is the image of God, and should not be corrupted for purposes that are not worthy of perforation of the ears. Therefore, strong and adopt in your mind to avoid piercing your ears, and know that this is the opinion of the Holy Torah. Sources and reasoning

Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him. The answers are under the responsibility of the rabbi who responded, and not under the responsibility of the website and/or the Head of the Institution.
