Question

My mother passed away in July. Am I allowed to send Rosh Hashanah, birthday or anniversary cards?

Answer

It is permissible for a mourner to send Happy New Year letters to other people who are not mourning, but other people who want to send a mourner a Happy New Year are not allowed to write a letter, since the people do not ask and say shalom the mourner all twelfth month, but can greet all members of his family, such as writing a Happy New Year to the ” Family” and not specifically designating the mourner.

Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him. The answers are under the responsibility of the rabbi who responded, and not under the responsibility of the website and/or the Head of the Institution.
