The laws of the eve of Passover that falls on Shabbat (2025)
This year (2025) the fourteenth of Nissan (the eve of Passover) falls on Saturday, the chametz is checked by candlelight
Is there any powerful prayer, or a special chapter from Psalms, or a strong segula – for the cure of the known disease (cancer)?
We share your pain, and please mention the name in prayer and, if God wills, we will also pray, and we hope and await that, with God’s help, you will see salvation soon, among all the other sick of the people of Israel, amen and amen. And repentance (teshuva), charity, and prayer remove the evil from the decree.
And regarding the matter at hand, although there are indeed segulot and prayers that are especially beneficial for cancer, which we will present below, with the help of G-d, it is important to know that besides the specific things mentioned below, all prayers for healing in general, as well as all the chapters of Psalms for healing and all the segulot for healing – can also be beneficial for cancer, just as for any other disease.
And it should be noted that, in addition to spiritual actions, which are the main ones, it is also necessary to conceal the miracle through the medical treatment required by nature, and this should not be neglected, as it is included in the commandment “And you shall take very good care of your souls.”
Here, of course, in addition to prayers, etc., it is very correct to strengthen oneself (and also those who are already strong in this: to strengthen others) in the matters that the sages of Israel pointed out as the sins that cause the disease of cancer, and these are:
Here is a healing remedy from the Rish Galuta of Bavel, Rabbi Yosef Chaim z”l, author of Ben Ish Chai z”l, which was partially published in his book “Leshon Chachamim” (Part 2, end of Chapter 16), and fully published from his sacred manuscript in the book “Refuat HaNefesh VeHaGuf HaBayit” by the Kabbalist Rabbi Shmuel Darzi z”l (page 20), as copied by Rabbi Yitzhak Darzi z”l, father of the aforementioned wise man Shmuel z”l. And Rabbi Shmuel Darzi mentioned there that this blessing is useful for the disease of cancer, may God protect us (and as can also be seen from the prayer mentioned at the end of the blessing, which corresponds to the damages caused by this disease, may God protect us).
Segulot for the cure of cancer:
May it be Your will, Lord our God and God of our ancestors, that an abundance of healing and life be drawn upon these drops of water, which I have designated with the letters “El Na Ref Na La,” and may they bring complete healing to Your servant/handmaid (so-and-so, son/daughter of so-and-so) who drinks them.
May it be Your will, our Lord God and God of our ancestors, that an abundant remedy and life be extended over these drops of water, that I intend in them the letters “God, please heal her,” and that a complete healing be granted to Your servant (Fulano/Ciclano son/daughter of Fulano/Ciclano) who drinks them.
And may there be healing and life (for Fulano/Fulana, son/daughter of Fulano/Fulana). Healing and life (for so-and-so, son/daughter of so-and-so). Refuge and life (for Fulano/Ciclano son/daughter of Fulano/Ciclano).
Please, Lord, in the name of the prayer of Moses, Your servant, who prayed before You and said: “Please, heal her, heal her with a complete healing for Your servant (Fulano/Ciclana, son/daughter of Fulano/Ciclana), and grant a long life and healing for all her diseases, all her pains, all her wounds, for You are a merciful and faithful God.”
And then, if the illness is cancer, he should recite this segula (which is a combination of three segulot mentioned in the Talmud in Shabbat 67a):
And he also wrote in the mentioned treatise that every morning, when giving the sick person the water to drink, one should also perform the other segula that is written in Leshon Chachamim (“the language of the wise”) there (Part 2, Chapter 16). However, this is certainly an addition that is not necessary, for in the words of the great sage Ben Ish Chai, it is clearly stated that these are two separate segulot and there is no need to combine them, and also Rabbi Shimon Darzi, of blessed memory, in his mentioned book, did not bring up this issue of combining the second segula in any way.
And there in the mentioned treatise, he also wrote some practical tips regarding the application of the aforementioned segula: he suggested using a dropper to facilitate precision in applying the drops, and also preparing a matchbox with 41 matches, and each time the formula is said, a match should be taken out, thus knowing that it has been said 41 times (however, when performing this segula on Shabbat, one should look for a similar tip that does not require matches, as they are considered muktzeh on Shabbat).
And in the book “Reiach Nichoach” in its chapter 252, it is written that in addition to giving water to the sick person to drink, one should rub a little of the water on the area of the illness. See there. And in my opinion, this is a mistake, because our master, the author of Ben Ish Chai, who possesses this segula, did not write it except for the sick person to drink, there is a fear that the sick person needs to drink all the water (especially because there is a secret in the number of drops of water, although it is reasonable to assume that one cannot drink until the last drop of the cup), therefore, one should not invent ways to take part of the water to rub on the body. That’s how it seems to me.
And in the book “Rofê Cholim” (Vanunu, p. 258 in the notes), he wrote about the mentioned segula: “And we have heard that many of today’s great Kabbalistic sages advise the sick or their relatives who turn to them for counsel and wisdom to perform this segula, etc.” End of quote.
As a principle, it is desirable not to focus on specific Psalms, but rather to complete all the Psalms in order as many times as possible, and if ten wise individuals can do it together, that is even better.
And he will also read all the verses of the Psalms according to the letters of the patient’s name, as established in the Psalms of Chida.
However, on occasions when time is limited and one wishes to focus on a specific chapter of the Psalms, the recommended chapter is Psalm 116 (which, according to Rabbi Hai Gaon, is capable of saving from an unnatural death, and also according to the Vilna Gaon, is the most effective Psalm against the disease of cancer, may God save us).

:
And also, in Sefer Segulot Avraham, p. 218, it mentions that Psalm 143 is a segulah for the treatment of cancer, and he wrote to read this chapter every day.
And this, of course, in addition to the chapters of the Psalms that are recommended for medicine in general, and these are:
2,9,13,16,17,18,22,23,25,30,31,32,33,37,38,39,41,49,55,56,69,86,88,89,90,91,102,103,104,116,118,142,143,148.
And then, in chapter 119 (which is a psalm divided according to the letters of the alphabet, each letter has eight verses), he will read the verses that begin with the letters of the patient’s name, and then the verses that begin with the letters Kuf, Resh, Ayn, Shin, Tet, Nun (קר”ע שט”ן).
The good God will save us from all disease and illness, and will send complete healing to all the sick of His people Israel, and to the healthy in Israel, that the Holy One, Blessed Be He, may maintain their health, and bring the people of Israel back to repentance with kindness and mercy, and not through suffering and bad diseases. Amen, may His will be done.
PLEASE NOTE*
Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him. The answers are under the responsibility of the rabbi who responded, and not under the responsibility of the website and/or the Head of the Institution.
