Question

Is there any powerful prayer, or a special chapter from Psalms, or a strong segula – for the cure of the known disease (cancer)?

Answer

We share your pain, and please mention the name in prayer and, if God wills, we will also pray, and we hope and await that, with God’s help, you will see salvation soon, among all the other sick of the people of Israel, amen and amen. And repentance (teshuva), charity, and prayer remove the evil from the decree.

And regarding the matter at hand, although there are indeed segulot and prayers that are especially beneficial for cancer, which we will present below, with the help of G-d, it is important to know that besides the specific things mentioned below, all prayers for healing in general, as well as all the chapters of Psalms for healing and all the segulot for healing – can also be beneficial for cancer, just as for any other disease.

And it should be noted that, in addition to spiritual actions, which are the main ones, it is also necessary to conceal the miracle through the medical treatment required by nature, and this should not be neglected, as it is included in the commandment “And you shall take very good care of your souls.”

The main segula: to distance oneself from the transgressions that cause the known disease.

Here, of course, in addition to prayers, etc., it is very correct to strengthen oneself (and also those who are already strong in this: to strengthen others) in the matters that the sages of Israel pointed out as the sins that cause the disease of cancer, and these are:

  • Prohibition of speaking in the synagogue about matters other than prayer or Torah (Rabi Shmuel Wosner, autor do livro “Shevet HaLevi”)
  • Prohibition of wigs [for women] (it was transmitted by the elder of the Kabbalists, Rabbi Yitzhak Kaduri, that this sin in the current generation causes cancer in the world, and even those who abstain from it, God forbid, may be harmed by the impurity of those who do not abstain).
  • Halachot (laws) even if they are not severe, but that the public does not observe (the author of “Kehilot Yaakov” Kanievski zt”l in the book “Kriyat Da’igarta”).
  • Be careful with things that the sages revealed to be dangerous, such as eating peeled eggs that have been left overnight, exposed onions or garlic, and eating meat with fish moisture, and so on. (Responsa Divrei Yatziv, Responsa Mishneh Halachot).
  • Contempt for the wise (this is transmitted in the name of Rav Aharon Leib Steinman zt”l, and this is in accordance with the words of the Talmud in Shabbat 119b that “anyone who despises the wise has no cure for their wound,” may God save us).

Segulot for the cure of cancer:מתפלל בכותל

  • Ask a wise scholar knowledgeable in the laws to add a name to the patient (advice from Maran Rabbi Ovadia Yosef in the book of responsa Ma’ayan Omer, part 2, section 20, for cancer patients when their lives are in danger, but he did not always advise this; consult there carefully). And in the cases mentioned there, Maran zt”l instructed the man to add the name “Refael,” and the woman to add the name “Sara” or “Leah,” see there.
  • May the patient study (and if not possible, may others do so on their behalf) the sacred book “Tomer Devorah” by Ramak zt”l, whose study has proven to be useful also against the disease of cancer. (o Gr”m Halberstam zt”l).
  • Disconnection from the impurity of the internet (there are many cases of people who abandoned the impurity of the internet and were miraculously cured of cancer – see the book Etzbeotay LaMilcham (“My Hands for the War”), page 872, and the pamphlet “Eshkol Yosef” by Rabbi Yitzhak Siman Tov, on advice for success on Judgment Day, page 11, among others).
  • The joy in observing the commandments has the power to nullify known diseases (the Rebbe of Shomer Emunim, Rabbi Avraham Rata, may God bless him, in the book Avraham Beodenu Chay, in the parashah Ki Tavô).
  • Paying attention to lighting the Shabbat candles at the right time (Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, may God bless his memory, brought his words in the book “Segulot Raboteinu,” page 120).
  • Redemption of the soul.(pidion nefesh)
  • Study in the books of the hidden part of the Torah (Chochmat Hasod), such as the sacred Zohar (Da’at Chochma Lenafshecha, Amor 5779, p. 20).
  • Drink two glasses of carrot juice with squeezed pomegranate and dates every day, with the addition of mineral water (Rabbi Naaman Shlit”a is mentioned in the book “I am the Lord, your Healer,” chapter 63). And, in any case, during the treatment period, one should consult the doctor about consuming large quantities of carrot juice.
  • Study the tractate of Kinnim with the explanation “Kan Meforeshet” and then recite the prayer mentioned there. If you are not healed, do this for three days. (segundo o rabino Eliyahu Gutmacher zt”l).
  • If the disease is in the head, Rebbe Chaim Kanievsky, may God bless him, recommended studying the explanation of the Rosh (Rabenu Asher), may God bless him, on the Talmud (in the secret of Shitah, volume 510, page 11).

A wonderful remedy and prayer from the author of “Ben Ish Hai” – for the disease of cancer

Here is a healing remedy from the Rish Galuta of Bavel, Rabbi Yosef Chaim z”l, author of Ben Ish Chai z”l, which was partially published in his book “Leshon Chachamim” (Part 2, end of Chapter 16), and fully published from his sacred manuscript in the book “Refuat HaNefesh VeHaGuf HaBayit” by the Kabbalist Rabbi Shmuel Darzi z”l (page 20), as copied by Rabbi Yitzhak Darzi z”l, father of the aforementioned wise man Shmuel z”l. And Rabbi Shmuel Darzi mentioned there that this blessing is useful for the disease of cancer, may God protect us (and as can also be seen from the prayer mentioned at the end of the blessing, which corresponds to the damages caused by this disease, may God protect us).

Segulot for the cure of cancer:

  • The patient must perform a complete penance and confess their sins, such as the lack of care in observing the Shabbat and in family purity, among others, for there is no suffering without sin, and even if they have not sinned in this reincarnation, they have at least sinned in previous reincarnations. And that he commits to not sinning anymore.
  • And then, a righteous and God-fearing person must perform the following amulet (apparently, it is not necessary to perform the amulet next to the sick person’s bed, but it can be done anywhere; however, many usually do it next to the sick person’s bed).
  • About half an hour before dawn, the God-fearing person mentioned will pour 11 drops of water into a cup (apparently an empty cup) corresponding to the 11 letters of the verse “אֵ֕ל נָ֛א רְפָ֥א נָ֖א לָֽהּ”, that is, they will pour a drop into the cup and intend for it to correspond to the letter alef of the mentioned verse (and will also intend the vocalization, since the mentioned alef letter has the vocalization tsere), then they will pour another drop and intend for it to correspond to the letter lamed, then they will pour another drop corresponding to the letter resh (with the vocalization chametz), and so on. And during the pouring, he will say the verse “אֵ֕ל נָ֛א רְפָ֥א נָ֖א לָֽהּ:”.
  • And he will repeat this ten times, that is, he will say the mentioned verse ten times with the cantillations, and during the recitation of the verse, he will pour 11 drops. And in total, we find 110 drops, which in gematria means “miracle.”
  • With a full mouth and the chants of the Tanach (and we discovered that almost in every drop he recites the verse once, except in one drop).
  • And then, he will take the cup (the cup into which he poured all the drops) in his hand, and say (while the cup is in his hand) this prayer:

May it be Your will, Lord our God and God of our ancestors, that an abundance of healing and life be drawn upon these drops of water, which I have designated with the letters “El Na Ref Na La,” and may they bring complete healing to Your servant/handmaid (so-and-so, son/daughter of so-and-so) who drinks them.

May it be Your will, our Lord God and God of our ancestors, that an abundant remedy and life be extended over these drops of water, that I intend in them the letters “God, please heal her,” and that a complete healing be granted to Your servant (Fulano/Ciclano son/daughter of Fulano/Ciclano) who drinks them.

And may there be healing and life (for Fulano/Fulana, son/daughter of Fulano/Fulana). Healing and life (for so-and-so, son/daughter of so-and-so). Refuge and life (for Fulano/Ciclano son/daughter of Fulano/Ciclano).

Please, Lord, in the name of the prayer of Moses, Your servant, who prayed before You and said: “Please, heal her, heal her with a complete healing for Your servant (Fulano/Ciclana, son/daughter of Fulano/Ciclana), and grant a long life and healing for all her diseases, all her pains, all her wounds, for You are a merciful and faithful God.”

And then, if the illness is cancer, he should recite this segula (which is a combination of three segulot mentioned in the Talmud in Shabbat 67a):

  • And he shall repeat the above segula 41 times.
  • Then, you should give the patient the water to drink, and it is necessary that he drinks it in the morning hours (it may have been written “morning” to exclude the afternoon or evening, and you can give the patient the water to drink immediately after performing the segula, close to dawn, but since we do not understand the depth of the reason for the segula, it seems better not to change anything from the text written on the amulet, therefore, it is recommended to give it to him to drink in the morning, that is, only after sunrise and before noon). And, of course, if the patient is a little thirsty and can speak, he should recite the blessing “Shehakol Nihiyah Bidvaro” before drinking the water, and if he drinks a quarter of a liter at once, he should also recite the final blessing “Boreh Nefashot Rabot.”
  • And he will repeat the entire above order every day for ten days.
  • So far, the words of Rav Shimon Darzi zt”l according to the manuscript of Ben Ish Chai. And in the notebook “Refuot Tehi Lebessarecha,” section 8, he added some details regarding the ten days, and I do not know its origin, and thus he wrote there: if by mistake they skipped one day, it is possible to add one more day in compensation, but if they skipped two days, it is necessary to start the entire order from the beginning. On Shabbat, it will not be done this way, but on Friday, you will wake up earlier and do this order twice.

And he also wrote in the mentioned treatise that every morning, when giving the sick person the water to drink, one should also perform the other segula that is written in Leshon Chachamim (“the language of the wise”) there (Part 2, Chapter 16). However, this is certainly an addition that is not necessary, for in the words of the great sage Ben Ish Chai, it is clearly stated that these are two separate segulot and there is no need to combine them, and also Rabbi Shimon Darzi, of blessed memory, in his mentioned book, did not bring up this issue of combining the second segula in any way.

And there in the mentioned treatise, he also wrote some practical tips regarding the application of the aforementioned segula: he suggested using a dropper to facilitate precision in applying the drops, and also preparing a matchbox with 41 matches, and each time the formula is said, a match should be taken out, thus knowing that it has been said 41 times (however, when performing this segula on Shabbat, one should look for a similar tip that does not require matches, as they are considered muktzeh on Shabbat).

And in the book “Reiach Nichoach” in its chapter 252, it is written that in addition to giving water to the sick person to drink, one should rub a little of the water on the area of the illness. See there. And in my opinion, this is a mistake, because our master, the author of Ben Ish Chai, who possesses this segula, did not write it except for the sick person to drink, there is a fear that the sick person needs to drink all the water (especially because there is a secret in the number of drops of water, although it is reasonable to assume that one cannot drink until the last drop of the cup), therefore, one should not invent ways to take part of the water to rub on the body. That’s how it seems to me.

And in the book “Rofê Cholim” (Vanunu, p. 258 in the notes), he wrote about the mentioned segula: “And we have heard that many of today’s great Kabbalistic sages advise the sick or their relatives who turn to them for counsel and wisdom to perform this segula, etc.” End of quote.

Psalms for the healing of cancer

As a principle, it is desirable not to focus on specific Psalms, but rather to complete all the Psalms in order as many times as possible, and if ten wise individuals can do it together, that is even better.

And he will also read all the verses of the Psalms according to the letters of the patient’s name, as established in the Psalms of Chida.

However, on occasions when time is limited and one wishes to focus on a specific chapter of the Psalms, the recommended chapter is Psalm 116 (which, according to Rabbi Hai Gaon, is capable of saving from an unnatural death, and also according to the Vilna Gaon, is the most effective Psalm against the disease of cancer, may God save us).

:

And also, in Sefer Segulot Avraham, p. 218, it mentions that Psalm 143 is a segulah for the treatment of cancer, and he wrote to read this chapter every day.

And this, of course, in addition to the chapters of the Psalms that are recommended for medicine in general, and these are:

2,9,13,16,17,18,22,23,25,30,31,32,33,37,38,39,41,49,55,56,69,86,88,89,90,91,102,103,104,116,118,142,143,148.

And then, in chapter 119 (which is a psalm divided according to the letters of the alphabet, each letter has eight verses), he will read the verses that begin with the letters of the patient’s name, and then the verses that begin with the letters Kuf, Resh, Ayn, Shin, Tet, Nun (קר”ע שט”ן).

The good God will save us from all disease and illness, and will send complete healing to all the sick of His people Israel, and to the healthy in Israel, that the Holy One, Blessed Be He, may maintain their health, and bring the people of Israel back to repentance with kindness and mercy, and not through suffering and bad diseases. Amen, may His will be done.
