I try to be particular about Ezra immersion for added purity before prayer, and of course on Friday evening as well. May I immerse in drawn water, such as in a swimming pool near my home, or is a mikveh with rainwater specifically required, as is the law for immersion mandated by the Torah?
Drawn water is valid for Ezra immersion, and therefore, when necessary, one may immerse in a swimming pool. If it is possible to arrange for the water to flow into the pool by way of hamshachah, that is preferable. Ideally, one should immerse when the water is still and not flowing. However, when feasible, it is certainly preferable to immerse in a valid mikveh that does not contain drawn water.
