Question:

Greetings, esteemed Rabbi. I have been struggling to find an apartment that suits my preferences.

Is there a “segula” (remedy) or something that can assist me?

Answer

There are several spiritual remedies for finding and purchasing an apartment (and, of course, while every remedy can be beneficial, they may not always suffice; there is no substitute for heartfelt prayer to evoke divine mercy and attain one’s desires). These remedies include:

  • Acquire Mezuzot for the New Apartment: When purchasing a new home[1]., it is essential to obtain highly adorned mezuzot, as this is a remedy that, with the Almighty’s help, will merit one a beautiful dwelling. This is substantiated in the Talmud[2]., which states: “Rav Huna warned about mezuzah — one who is diligent with it merits a beautiful home” .
  • Filling a Bottle in Honor of the Late Rabbi Yitzhak Abuhatzeira, ZT”L: The esteemed author of the poem “A’ofah Ashkuna,” as discussed elsewhere, along with the segula (remedy) of the Aarak. Please refer to that source for more information.
  • Recite Psalm 84, Focusing on Verse 4:

[3].גַּם צִפּוֹר מָצְאָה בַיִת וּדְרוֹר קֵן לָהּ

Transliteration:
Gam tzipor matza bayit, u’dror ken lah.

Translation:
Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself.

For Those Seeking to Reside in the Land of Israel: If one is unable to secure an apartment, it is advisable to check the stipulations outlined in the ketubah concerning the place of residence[4].

In a separate context, we have also provided remedies for selling an apartment, with divine assistance.

Wishing you success in your endeavors!

Refer there for additional clarification on this remedy, in light of what is discussed elsewhere regarding the merits of purchasing a tallit for the sake of securing a worthy match.

Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him. The answers are under the responsibility of the rabbi who responded, and not under the responsibility of the website and/or the Head of the Institution.
