I would like to ask whether Kaddish is recited for someone who died by suicide?
One should certainly recite Kaddish for someone who died by suicide, Heaven forbid, for the purpose of Kaddish is to elevate the soul of the deceased through its recitation, which is an awe-inspiring and exalted praise of the Holy One, blessed be He. Therefore, on the contrary, more Kaddish should be recited for someone who died by suicide, for the elevation of his unfortunate soul. Kaddish should be recited for him for twelve months, and not only for eleven months.
However, there is one Kaddish that is not recited for someone who died by suicide: the special Kaddish for mourners in which they say, “May sword and death cease,” etc. This Kaddish is not recited, since it was not the Holy One, blessed be He, who caused his death; rather, he caused his own death. Instead, the regular Kaddish is recited.
