הרב אליהו בחבוט ברכת אברהם משיב כהלכה

Question:

Does the fact that there is a family dispute over inheritance harm the soul of the deceased?

Answer:

Yes, undoubtedly, especially when the deceased is a father or mother, and after their passing, the children start fighting over the inheritance.

This greatly disturbs the soul of the deceased because they are aware of everything that happens with their descendants in this world (especially within the first year of their death), and they suffer from seeing them fighting[1].

Moreover, God holds the soul accountable for not having better educated their children during their lifetime to prevent such disputes[2].

It is written that as long as there is fighting in the family over inheritance, the soul of the deceased does not find rest[3].

Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him.
