In Chapter 1, verse 31: “And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day” — there is a
What is recommended for those who have anxieties, various fears, and panic attacks? There is a problem mainly with my daughter, she wakes up in the middle of the night, etc., and we no longer know what to do.
At your request, we will write here, with God’s help, some segulot that can be published in this context (that is, we will bring, with God’s help, segulot accessible to all, without Kabbalistic names and the like), but it is important that I anticipate what I also wrote in the introduction to the response about sadness and depression: segulot are a very correct step, as well as prayer to prevent any harm; however, alongside this, it is also necessary to maintain natural treatment methods. Therefore, it is also necessary to consult qualified professionals to treat these cases, and if necessary, resort to treatment through medication as per the doctor’s guidance; do not neglect this effort, and God will send His salvation through the appropriate messengers. And see the note in the above response where we also wrote about the quality of the professionals that should be sought in these matters, because, unfortunately, there are those who harm more than help.
Here is the list of segulot regarding this matter, with the help of the Most High:
Segulot for anxieties and panic attacks
He must be very careful with hand washing [Netilat Yadaim] (washing with a vessel, and always wash six times alternately, even in a way that is not mandatory by law, and be careful that the water reaches all parts of the hand, and use a lot of water), especially when washing hands upon waking in the morning, after leaving the bathroom, after cutting nails, after shaving or cutting hair, and after leaving the cemetery. For the lack of care in all of this can be the spiritual origin of fear[1].
A remedy for fear from Maran Hida[2] zt”l. Say the entire order below:
Say verse 10 of Psalm 20 three times:
Lord, save the king; may he answer us on the day we call. (3 times)
Then, you should take a Torah book in your hands and recite Psalm 53 nine times:
Translation: For the conductor, to the sound of the harp, a psalm of David: For the conductor, to the sound of the harp, a psalm of David: The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They have corrupted themselves and committed acts of injustice; there is no one who does good. God, from heaven, looked down on the children of men to see if there is anyone who has discernment and seeks God. All have turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. Did those who practice iniquity not understand, who devour my people as if they were eating bread and do not invoke God? There, they will fear a great fear (here he will lightly strike the book of the Torah in his hands twice) because God has scattered the bones of those who camp against you; you have put them to shame because God has rejected them. Who will give Zion the salvation of Israel? When God restores the captivity of His people, Jacob will rejoice and Israel will rejoice. (And he will repeat all of this 9 times).
Translation: The Lord will sustain us on our bed of pain; all our beds You have turned from sickness: (3 times).
May the pleasantness of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us, and the work of our hands establish it. Establish the work of our hands, and the work of our hands establish it. Establish the work of our hands, and the work of our hands establish it, O God, our Lord, may it be.
Translation: And may the goodness of the Lord, our God, be upon us, and may the work of our hands be established upon us, and the work of our hands, establish it. Establish it, Lord our God, upon us, and the work of our hands, establish it, Lord our God.
.
Translation:
Heal us (if you make the amulet for others, say: Heal him) Lord and we will be healed (and we will be healed), save us (save him) and we will be saved (and we will be saved), for to You belongs our praise.
Next, you must immerse yourself in a mikveh 7 times.
A remedy based on the sacred manuscript of the old Kabbalist Rabbi Yitzhak Kaduri zt”l: will recite the verse:
“And the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, and God called to him from the midst of the bush and said: Moses, Moses! And he said: Here I am. And he prayed and said: By the power of the holy name found in this verse, and in a manner that we diminish from it one letter at the beginning each time in the known way before you, that you should remove the fear from the heart of so-and-so, son of so-and-so, from now and forever, and do not delay, may it be fulfilled quickly, amen, may it be your will, forever and ever.”
Translation: “And the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, and God called to him from the midst of the bush and said: Moses, Moses!” And he said: Here I am.” And he will pray and say: “By the strength of the sacred name found in this verse, and in a way that a letter is removed from it each time, starting from the beginning according to the method known to you, may the panic leave the heart of so-and-so son of so-and-so from now until the eternal world, and it will not be delayed, it will quickly leave, amen, may it be the eternal will, seal.”
When you pray the Amidah prayer, upon reaching the last blessing and saying the words “bring peace and goodness,” you should intend that, by virtue of the sacred name emanating from these words, the Holy One, Blessed be He, will send you healing for the soul, so that there will be no more panic and anxieties.
Solution against panic from the great sage “Ben Ish Hai”: At the end of the Amidah prayer, after saying “May the words of my mouth, etc.” before saying “O God, guard my tongue from evil,” he will recite Psalm 121 (Psalm “I lift my eyes to the mountains”).
And the author of the “Ben Ish Hai” also wrote that for those who are afraid, every morning they should recite Psalm 91 (He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High) three times, starting with the verse “And it shall be His will.” [And there are those who write that one should recite “Blessed are those who dwell in Your house” seven times in full, and then seven times the aforementioned Psalm 91[7]]. And one should also recite Psalm 121 (A Song of Ascents, I lift up my eyes to the mountains) three times every morning. And before going to sleep, one must recite these psalms again once.
Those who experience panic at night should be very careful with the recitation of the Shema in the morning, at night, and before going to sleep, and should recite it with concentration and precision. And our master, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, added that when asked about a woman who has anxiety, the remedy for this is to recite the “Morning Blessing” (before the recitation of the Shema at night) while pronouncing the Name of God.
He will carry with him willow leaves (aravot) that he struck on Hoshaná Rabá, and if he experiences panic at night, he will place the willow under his pillow.
One must be careful not to get used to putting his hands on his nostrils and lips.
You should also get used to whispering these words at any time of the day or night: “עיזא דבי טבחי שמינא מינאי”, and when panic awakens in your heart, you should immediately say these words.
One must always take care to wear a quality talit katan (tsitsit).
Panic can be a consequence of inadequate attention to the blessings of things one benefits from (Bircat Hanehenin). Therefore, one must take care to bless everything they eat, with moderation, concentration, and precision, the initial blessing and the final blessing.
By studying the Torah during the meal, one can save themselves from panic[15].
He will recite these verses, especially on Tuesday of the week:
Translation: “Behold, his bed is surrounded by sixty valiant men, all of them valiant men of Israel, armed with swords and trained for war, each with his sword at his side because of the fear of the nights.” And he will pray to the Holy One, blessed be He, that, by virtue of the sacred name that emerges from the first mentioned verse, he will have no fear.
And elsewhere we have also brought secrets that are generally useful for the healing of the soul.
Anxiety and panic in children
Regarding anxieties and fears in children, it is possible for the child themselves to engage in age-appropriate practices, and the parents can also perform these practices on their behalf. [And Rav Chaim Kanievsky, zt”l, recommended that anyone with a child with mental problems should have the father study the Talmudic Tractate Makot[17]]. But it is important to emphasize that, in cases of anxiety in children, it is crucial that parents do not take the situation too seriously, doing everything objectively, with joy and lightness, because if parents take these things seriously, the child intensely feels how much the parents (especially the mother) care about her and how they are connected to her. The child feels “belonging,” “connection,” and, consequently, it will not be easy for them to want (unconsciously) to move forward and get out of the problem, because, despite all the suffering involved, they also have a sense of “gain” that is significant to them. And also, the less one fixates on the situation, one should trust that the child can get out of that same situation at any moment with a little goodwill, without thinking that long treatments are necessary and that the situation is serious, etc., because otherwise, children are transmitted (on the “frequency” – even without words) the feeling that this situation is very difficult to get out of, and thus non-normative behaviors are legitimately created. But parents should feel that if the child wants to, tomorrow they will get out of it, and thus they significantly increase the probability of the child getting out of it by hundreds.
With the blessing of healing for the soul and body, and keeping in mind that the salvation of the Lord is like lightning.
PLEASE NOTE*
Attention: You should not learn from one case to another, each case must be analyzed individually. Generally speaking, it's always best to have contact with a Rabbi in person, not just virtual contact. Note that where there is a local Rabbi("Mara Deatra"), one should ask him. The answers are under the responsibility of the rabbi who responded, and not under the responsibility of the website and/or the Head of the Institution.
